The month of May is vacation time! Children look forward to fun-filled summer camps and games every year.
However, things are different this year with the ongoing lockdown. Children have not been able to go out and meet their friends for the past 2 months. But does that mean they have to miss out on summer camp also? Absolutely not!

I knew staying indoors would be the toughest thing for my son. So, I got creative and decided to organize a summer camp in the house, to keep him engaged. I involved a few other mommies, we would get together virtually and do fun activities.

1. Kicking off the camp with some I(ce)(s)cream !
All the mommies made ice creams at home for our kids and had them together via video call to mark the beginning of the camp.

2. Online competitions: During summertime, most playschools or societies conduct sit and draw competitions, so we thought why not conduct one online. We got kids to participate in an online sit and draw competition and our kids loved it.

3. Online origami classes: Origami helps boost the child’s creativity. One of the moms takes the lead of demonstrating the activity and the other kids follow.

4.Run, run, run! – We also play some games indoor which involve running, jumping and which need physical strength like an obstacle course, which is very important for his muscle growth and bone density and to improve his stamina.

5.Bedtime story sessions- My son and I made a tent using bed sheets and we snuggle inside it to have bedtime story sessions every night.

Keep your kids happy and engaged at home with such small preparations. The only way to protect them is to prepare them for the challenges ahead. Agar tyari sahi ho to jeet pakki hai – in association with ICICI Prudential Life
